Your group is welcome at Shoemakers Museum
Discounts are available for group bookings – the box office opens later this summer. We’ll do our best to accommodate your group if you prebook and coach parking is available by prior arrangement.
Our café rooms provide a comfortable social place to hold your special interest or social group meeting while you enjoy catering and refreshments. Our library and reading rooms offer more private spaces to meet and our board room includes the best of both with a private space and in-room refreshments.
Regular groups such as knit and natter, bookgroups, crafting, parent and friendship groups are welcome. The museum is also a perfect venue for celebrations, ceremonies, meeting and special events.

School visits to the museum
Educational visits are welcome when we open in September. Local schools and colleges are currently helping to develop a vibrant learning programme. Engaging activities provided can be guided or self led and include handling boxes, history trails, interactives, talks, tours of the museum and local area and a dedicated learning space is provided for educational groups.

Discover the shoemakers. Step into the world of shoemaking from the early days of hand making to the hustle and bustle of factory life. Find out how shoes have changed over time, and what shopping for shoes was like in the 1950s and 1980s. Then take a dive into pre-history – an undersea kingdom of sea dragons and marine fossils. Whatever your age there are opportunities to enjoy the interactives and most of all play.
