A social space for former tannery factory workers to share their memories at a Heritage Cafe reunion.

The project is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and celebrates the experiences of people who worked at Morlands or Baily’s, two significant sheepskin processing and manufacturing companies in the Beckery area of Glastonbury.

Heritage cafe is a comfortable space to meet up with friends and former colleagues. The café offers a warm and welcoming space for people to share memories, catch up with friends, and reconnect with former colleagues. While the focus is on those who worked at the tanneries, the event is open to everyone, drawing visitors keen to explore Street and Glastonbury’s history including ex-employees of Clarks shoes.

“It is wonderful that new people are still coming forward to share their memories of Baily’s and Morlands”.

“It was lovely to see people recognising old workmates whom they hadn’t seen for years – there was a lot of chat and laughter.”

The Heritage Cafe has recently relocated from the Red Brick Building to Shoemakers Museum.
It takes place on the last Friday of every month 10am – 12pm.
Free to everyone – you do not need to be an annual pass holder to join.
