Step into 200 years of history and be part of the story.
There are several ways that you can help to bring Shoemakers Museum to life. Help us cross the fundraising finishing line with a donation. Join our friendly team as a paid visitor host in our café, shop and ticketing office or as a valued volunteer. Local suppliers and creators are sought for artisan products for our shop or café. Or simply tell share your stories of the shoes you have loved, where they have taken you and your life in Clarks and Street on our socials @shoemakersmuseum.
JOIN OUR TEAM
We are recruiting! Do you enjoy working with people? We are looking for Visitor Services Hosts to give a warm welcome to our visitors. You’ll be working in the café, shop, ticket office and galleries. We are particularly looking for someone with barista experience.
4 month Fixed term 1 July until 31 October 2026.
Shifts available on a rota including regular weekends.
£13.05 per hour. Deadline for applications 15 June 2026 at 5pm.

VOLUNTEER
Our wonderful volunteers bring the story of Shoemakers Museum to life. If you have a little time to space why not join our friendly and dedicated team. Recruitment and training are offered for a variety of volunteer roles to suit the interests and experiences of different people. You are welcome to look and see which volunteer role would suit you.

Donations are welcome to help us landscape our beautiful gardens, create educational materials, add interactives to the fossil gallery and create an exciting programme of events.

Step inside and see for yourself. Come for a visit to the museum. A warm welcome awaits you. A programme of regular events, talks, tours of the museum and exclusive behind the scenes tours of the museum and archive take place throughout the year – come along and have fun with new ways to explore the collections. Shoemakers Museum, cafe, and shop are open daily 10-5pm

MAKERS AND CREATORS
We are keen to collaborate with forward-thinking local businesses to create a memorable Somerset experience at Shoemakers. We are looking to stock the best of local business in our shop and café. Maybe you are a local artist or craftsperson or can offer an experience through an event or workshop. We are keen to hear from you.
