archaeological facial reconstruction workshop

Shoemakers Museum is delighted to be the venue for the return of Forensic Anthropologist Sherlock Bone on Thursday 8th October 2026 to deliver a practical, hands-on Forensic Facial Reconstruction Workshop. This event is organised by Dany aka Sherlock Bones and you are welcome to find out more and book directly with them for this course.

Here are the details:

Step into the fascinating world of forensic facial reconstruction and discover how science can help put a face to unidentified human remains.

During this unique workshop, you will explore the techniques used by forensic specialists to reconstruct the appearance of an individual from their skull. You will gain practical experience in both 2D facial reconstruction techniques and 3D clay reconstruction, learning how facial tissue depths, skeletal landmarks and anatomical features are used to gradually rebuild the muscles, soft tissues and features of the face.

Working through the reconstruction process yourself, you will discover how the shape of the skull can provide important clues about facial appearance and identity.
