What stories are hidden in the archives waiting to be told? Author May Ellis drew on hours of research in the Shoemakers archives to write her bestselling Clarks Factory Girls series – four novels bringing to life the experiences of factory workers during WW1 with each story rooted in something real; a moment; a detail; a life discovered.

In this workshop May will share some of the extraordinary discoveries she made in the archives, and through a series of guided creative writing exercises, you will discover how to transform historic material into vivid, compelling storytelling.
No writing experience is necessary. If you have a love of the past and a story you would like to tell, this workshop is for you.
