Christmas  has arrived in Street. If you haven’t already made a visit to the new museum trip please do drop in! We’ve a warm welcome, a festive menu, and a giftshop packed with unique Christmas gifts for you.

Tours of the museum and archive

New starting this month, go a bit deeper into the stories behind the collections with Museum Tours of the Galleries and exclusive Behind the Scenes tours of the Archive. With our collections team to guide you through a fascinating tour of the collections. You won’t hear these stories anywhere else and the Behind the Scenes tours offer an opportunity to see some of the shoes and items that didn’t make it into the exhibitions. Find out more…

Unique Christmas Gifts

Looking for a unique gift? Share Shoemakers Museum experience with Gift Vouchers now available to buy online.
Our Makers shop stocks a wider range of unique gifts inspired by the collection. Many are made by local crafts people and artisans. So if you are looking for something special – pop into the Shoemakers shop. Open daily 10-5 and you don’t need a ticket to visit.

Something Tasty

Shoemakers Cafe is now serving a selection of speciality Hot chocolates – enjoy an old favourite with a festive twist. Plus warming light lunches, coffees and cakes. Take a break from your Christmas shopping with a visit – The cafe is an oasis to enjoy whether or not you have a museum pass.

Family events to inspire and enjoy

Weekly Wednesday Art activities. During term time this December join Millfield Creative Arts students for a series of creative workshops – free to museum pass holders.
Our Make with Me workshop is an opportunity to turn Christmas wrapping into memories. Learn how to create a journal in a workshop for the whole family to enjoy together.

Wassail returns on 18 January 2-4.30pm. This popular family friendly event is a real community celebration and a lovely way to enjoy our walled orchard and chase the Winter blues away. Drawing on an  ancient Somerset tradition celebrating the apple trees and ensuring a good harvest, expect theatre, storytelling, music and merriment. Plus a prize for the best festive crown! Free entry to museum pass holders.

We feel rather tucked away behind the ice rink which is open on our lawn – but we are still here and still very much open.  The museum, cafe and shop are open daily 10-5pm and a warm welcome awaits you.
